Couple Adopted 8 Boys From The Same Family

Taking place over a ten year period, a Nebraska couple recently adopted their 8th child from the same birth mother. The adopting couple learned shortly after getting married that conceiving children naturally was "very unlikely" for them, so they decided try foster parenting which turned into 8 adoptions.

According to the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, more than 100,000 children are available for adoption in the United States.

The institute's executive director, Becky Weichhand, said the parents' story is important because it helps the public realize that "everyday people are making an impact in the life of a child, and that they can do it, too." She said it's important to keep siblings together where possible because their bond is a source of emotional strength after the trauma of being separated from their parents.
