Marla Neufeld, Esq. Featured on Webinar: Important Legal Updates Impacting the LGBTQIA Community
Recently, the Supreme Court held that Title VII’s employment extended to gay and transgender employees. And while this has been needed and welcome news, there have been other decisions which directly impact the lives of LGBTQIA persons and their loved ones. For example, a federal judge ruled that the State Department must recognize that the daughter of a gay couple in Maryland has been a U.S. citizen since her birth in Canada via a surrogate last year. In another case, a Florida Court of Appeals interpreted that the term “reputed father” as it relates to children born out of wedlock extended to a lesbian parent whose children were conceived using an anonymous sperm donor.
These decisions not only have a direct impact on these individuals, but on the millions of LGBTQIA individuals and families that are simply hoping to enjoy the same rights as other families.
Greenspoon Marder has committed as part of its diversity initiative to provide resources to underserved and underrepresented communities. The firm has formed a panel of leaders in their respective fields who will discuss important developments affecting LGBTQIA individual and families in these crucial areas.
